Calling all PALs!
The AOM is reigniting the Political Action Lead (PAL) midwives program. The program supports midwives to engage with elected representatives, speak to key issues and engage in advocacy for your community and profession.
The AOM is committed to supporting midwives to advocate for their communities with political decision-makers in positioning midwifery as a solution to the primary-care crisis, and promoting the recommendations of the soon-to-be-released Midwifery Sustainability Project Report. The report will provide calls to action for system-wide change and integration that reflect the needs voiced by midwives.
Following the results of the provincial election, midwife PALs will build bridges with decision-makers and offer solutions to the strained health-care system. The AOM will support midwife advocates to keep political leaders accountable to health-care reform commitments, reflect midwifery values and bolster midwifery expertise.
