Transcript: ESW 2021 Year in Review

In 2021, the A-O-M recertified a record number of midwives in emergency skills. To meet the increased demand the A-O-M provided 35% more E-S-W spots to midwives compared to 2020. The E-S-W continues to be offered in-person with COVID measures and precautions, ensuring a quality hands-on and interactive emergency skills training for midwives.

E-S-W exam

E-S-W Exam overhaul is now complete! Since 2019 the AOM has been working with the E-S-W Work Group to learn best practices for exams and develop an exam blueprint. The entire exam has now been revised and updated to the 7th ed. and all member exam question feedback addressed.

Introducing: The 7th edition E-S-W Manual

The A-O-M continues to ensure that the E-S-W program and related content remains relevant and current for midwives. The 7th edition of the E-S-W manual was released on November 1st. This latest edition includes new research on emergency identification and management and includes the addition of new skills for midwives to manage emergencies.
