HIV/AIDS Supplementary Payment

Through their HIROC policy, midwives are eligible for a supplementary payment if they test positive for HIV or AIDS. Midwives are eligible regardless of whether acquired in the workplace or elsewhere, though payments are not available to persons whose intent was to specifically and deliberately become HIV positive or to persons taking non-prescribed illegal drugs intravenously.

The HIV/AIDS supplementary payment plan is designed to provide both a one-time financial payment and counseling/support services.

Within 90 days of learning of their diagnosis, a midwife must advise HIROC of their intent to apply for this supplementary payment. The form can be completed on the HIROC website.
